- Arsenal have approached former Manchester City star Leroy Sane about a free transfer, aiming to beat Tottenham to his signature this summer.
Sporting director Andrea Berta is actively working to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s squad, with reports suggesting he has a £300m budget for new signings
Midfielder Martin Zubimendi is set to join Arsenal after the club activated his £51m release clause to complete his transfer from Real Sociedad. While securing a new striker remains a top priority, the Gunners are also looking to bring in a winger.
Arsenal have been linked with Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, but in addition—or potentially as an alternative—they are also pursuing Bayern Munich’s Leroy Sane, who is attracting interest from Tottenham as well.
A report on Wednesday stated that Sane has “offered himself” to Spurs following their Champions League qualification through last week’s Europa League triumph.
Reports indicate that Leroy Sané is aiming to return to the Premier League this summer on a free transfer, with his agent, Pini Zahavi, having already made contact with a London club to explore the possibility.
The report adds that there has been little progress in extending his contract at Bayern Munich, as the club’s “modest” renewal offer was not well received by Sané or his representatives.
Tottenham are reportedly open to the idea of adding a player of Sané’s calibre and experience to their squad, particularly if he becomes available for free.
While formal negotiations haven’t begun, an offer is believed to be on the table and could gather pace if talks between Sané and Bayern Munich remain at a standstill.
Arsenal are also reportedly interested in signing Leroy Sané, with Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg recently stating that the Gunners are “back in the race” for the Germany international. On Thursday, The Telegraph confirmed that Andrea Berta has “made inquiries” regarding a move for the 29-year-old.
