Fantasy Premier League | 2024/25 season review

Share

West Ham United wrapped up their 2024/25 campaign on Sunday, concluding a testing season that saw them finish 14th in the Premier League.

Graham Potter’s side ended on a positive note with a 3-1 win over already-relegated Ipswich Town at Portman Road, providing a memorable send-off for four departing members of the 2023 UEFA Europa Conference League-winning squad: Łukasz Fabiański, Aaron Cresswell, Vladimír Coufal, and Danny Ings.

  1. As the curtain falls on a historic Fantasy Premier League season — which saw a record-breaking 11.5 million participants, the highest in the game’s 23-year history — we take a look back at West Ham’s standout performers over the course of the campaign.

Goalkeepers

Having the luxury of two high-quality goalkeepers with contrasting styles gave West Ham United the flexibility to rotate their options throughout the 2024/25 season.

That’s exactly how the campaign unfolded, with Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) and Łukasz Fabiański (£3.9m) both sharing duties in goal for the Irons.

Areola began the season as the first-choice keeper, starting the opening eight Premier League fixtures. Fabiański then took over for the next nine matches, including the first two under new head coach Graham Potter. However, Areola regained his spot and remained between the posts until the final day, when Fabiański was given a well-deserved farewell appearance — his 216th for the Club — after seven memorable years in claret and blue.

Areola ended the season with five clean sheets in 26 top-flight appearances, earning 69 Fantasy Premier League points. His standout performance came at Old Trafford earlier this month, where he secured eight points in West Ham’s first league win at the venue since May 2007.

Fabiański contributed three clean sheets across 14 appearances, tallying 39 points, including a notable nine-point display against Everton in November. Meanwhile, Wes Foderingham (£4.2m) is still awaiting his competitive debut for the Hammers.Defenders

Aaron Wan-Bissaka (£4.5m), West Ham’s 2024/25 Hammer of the Year, has been a standout performer in his debut season in Claret and Blue. The versatile full-back started 36 of 38 Premier League games and proved to be one of Fantasy’s top differentials, racking up 118 FPL points—eighth among all full-backs. He scored twice, registered four assists, and led the team in tackles and interceptions, while also ranking second in passes and third in both clearances and key passes. His three double-digit FPL hauls came in away matches against Newcastle, Arsenal, and Manchester United.

Maximilian Kilman (£4.3m) was a rock at the heart of defence, playing nearly every minute of the league season and missing just 71 minutes in total. Since the start of 2022/23, he’s played more minutes (10,084) than any other outfield player. His consistent displays earned him 82 FPL points in a commanding first year at the Club.

Jean-Clair Todibo (£4.2m) had an injury-hit campaign but still managed to collect 54 FPL points. Emerson (£4.4m) and Dinos Mavropanos (£4.3m) contributed 76 and 45 points, respectively.

Academy graduate Ollie Scarles (£4.0m) emerged as a regular in the senior squad, making 15 Premier League appearances. His standout performance came at Arsenal in February, where he made seven interceptions and earned seven FPL points. The 19-year-old was later named the Club’s Mark Noble Young Player of the Season.

Veterans Aaron Cresswell (£3.6m) and Vladimír Coufal (£4.1m) are set to leave the Club after reduced roles this season, with just ten and eleven starts respectively. Nonetheless, both delivered memorable performances in West Ham’s recent win at Old Trafford, leaving as club legend

Midfielders

Jarrod Bowen (£7.9m) was a standout performer for Potter’s West Ham side this season, proving crucial with his attacking output. He ended the 2024/25 campaign in red-hot form, scoring 66 points in the final eight Gameweeks — only failing to return against league champions Liverpool. Bowen’s goal and assist on the final day earned him 13 points, bringing his season total to 193 points (6th highest overall), with 13 goals and 10 assists.

Tomáš Souček (£4.8m) continued his consistent FPL record, surpassing 100 points for the fifth straight season. He netted nine goals — his second-best return for the Hammers — and amassed 126 points. Notably, West Ham lost just one of the nine matches he scored in.

Mohammed Kudus (£6.2m) made valuable contributions, including the winning goal at Ipswich on the final day, ending the season with five goals and two assists in 32 appearances.

Lucas Paquetá (£5.7m) had a strong start, scoring three of his four goals in the first 16 Gameweeks.

Edson Álvarez (£5.0m) added 40 points in his second full season.

New signings Carlos Soler (£5.0m) and Guido Rodríguez (£4.8m) had promising Premier League debuts.

James Ward-Prowse (£6.1m) returned from a loan spell at Nottingham Forest and became a regular starter, playing in 12 of the final 14 games. He capped off the season with a goal and season-best 9 points in the final game against Ipswich.

Crysencio Summerville (£5.5m) had an unfortunate first season, sidelined since January with a hamstring injury suffered during Potter’s debut FA Cup tie at Aston Villa. Expectations remain high for his return.

Luis Guilherme (£4.6m) showed promise in his 11 substitute appearances and earned a Premier League start against Wolves in April.

Andy Irving (£4.7m), dubbed the ‘Portobello Pirlo’, made ten appearances and enjoyed strong fan support, especially during his full debut at Chelsea.

Finally, Lewis Orford (£4.5m) made his senior debut against Crystal Palace in January, signaling another exciting Academy talent emerging at West Ham

Forwards

With Michail Antonio (£5.2m) still recovering from injuries sustained in a car accident back in early December, it’s worth remembering his standout performance earlier in the season. His 18-point Fantasy Premier League (FPL) haul during West Ham’s 4-1 home win over Ipswich Town in October remains the club’s highest individual match score of the 2024/25 campaign. In that Gameweek 7 fixture, he netted the opening goal within a minute and recorded three FPL assists, earning maximum bonus points.

Germany international Niclas Füllkrug (£4.2m) experienced a disrupted season due to injury, but still managed to impress with three goals and two assists from just 790 Premier League minutes, collecting 42 FPL points. Now fully fit and more settled in London, Füllkrug will be aiming to build momentum and deliver more consistently in the coming season.

Danny Ings (£4.8m), who is expected to leave the club this summer, made only one start during the season. However, he made his mark with a late equaliser at Fulham in September and contributed two assists in the 2-1 victory over Manchester United in October, with both matches yielding eight FPL points each.

Evan Ferguson (£5.5m), who joined on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in early February, featured in eight matches during his stint at the club.

Meanwhile, Head Coach Graham Potter (£0.5m) has proven a strong Fantasy asset since his appointment in January, racking up 84 FPL points. Notable results under his leadership include statement wins against Arsenal and Manchester United, highlighted by a remarkable 19-point showing against the Gunners.

With a full pre-season ahead — including participation in the Premier League Summer Series in the U.S. — West Ham fans have plenty of reasons to look forward to the 2025/26 season with optimism.
