Miguel Angel Jimenez wins the 2025 Principal Charity Classic in a thrilling playoff, adding another major achievement to his storied PGA Tour Champions career on Sunday at Wakonda Club in Des Moines, Iowa.

The 61-year-old Spanish golfer held off challengers Soren Kjeldsen and Cameron Percy, clinching victory with a birdie on the first extra hole. Miguel Angel Jimenez wins 2025 Principal Charity Classic, marking his third PGA Tour Champions title of the 2025 season and the 16th of his senior tour career.

Jimenez led the tournament from wire to wire, thanks to a sizzling start. He opened with a blistering 8-under 63 in the first round, followed by a strong 5-under 66 on Saturday that kept him atop the leaderboard heading into Sunday’s final round. Although his final round of 2-under 70 wasn’t his lowest of the week, it was enough to keep him in contention as Kjeldsen and Percy closed the gap. Jimenez came through when it mattered most, making a clutch birdie on the par-4 18th — a drivable 311-yard hole — to finish at 17-under for the tournament and force a three-way playoff.

Returning to the 18th tee for the sudden-death playoff, Jimenez once again demonstrated his calm under pressure. He positioned his tee shot perfectly, setting up a short putt for birdie. With Kjeldsen and Percy unable to match his score, Jimenez sank a 4-footer to seal the win. It was a fitting end for the veteran golfer, who has become known for his steady play and remarkable composure during high-pressure moments.

This latest victory is part of a dominant stretch for Jimenez, who continues to show that age is no barrier to success on the PGA Tour Champions. His two previous wins this season came at the Trophy Hassan II in February, held in Morocco, and the Hoag Classic in March, played in Newport Beach, California. With three victories already in 2025, Jimenez has firmly established himself as one of the top players on the senior circuit once again.

Beyond the numbers, Jimenez continues to captivate fans with his unique personality, trademark ponytail, and ever-present cigar. But beneath the relaxed exterior is a fierce competitor with an exceptional golf resume. A longtime presence on both the European Tour and PGA Tour Champions, Jimenez’s consistency, skill, and charisma have made him a fan favorite across generations.

Jimenez’s success at the Principal Charity Classic also speaks to his remarkable longevity and adaptability in the game of golf. While many players fade with age, Jimenez has seemingly only grown sharper, maintaining a high level of performance deep into his 60s. His ability to shape shots, manage courses strategically, and maintain a world-class short game has allowed him to remain competitive against both longtime peers and younger newcomers to the Champions Tour. Each of his wins this season has showcased not only his talent, but also the discipline and preparation that has defined his entire career.

As the PGA Tour Champions season progresses, Jimenez will no doubt be a major contender in the upcoming majors and playoff events. His strong start in 2025 positions him as a frontrunner in the Charles Schwab Cup race, and with his current form, more victories could very well be on the horizon. Whether he’s winning tournaments or simply enjoying the camaraderie of the tour, Miguel Angel Jimenez continues to be a vital presence in professional golf — both for his competitive fire and for the joy and character he brings to the sport.
