Share

The Chicago Cubs are set to open their 2025 MLB season with a historic two-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. This event is particularly significant as it features five Japanese players: Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, and Roki Sasaki from the Dodgers, and Seiya Suzuki and Shota Imanaga from the Cubs. The presence of these athletes has generated immense excitement among Japanese baseball fans, with tickets selling out rapidly.

In preparation for the opener, the Cubs played an exhibition game against Japan’s Yomiuri Giants, securing a 4-2 victory. The game remained scoreless until the fifth inning when Pete Crow-Armstrong’s double sparked a four-run rally. Pitcher Jameson Taillon delivered a solid performance, allowing only one run and striking out four over five innings.

The first game of the Tokyo Series between the Cubs and Dodgers is scheduled for March 18, 2025.
