Austin, TX – The Texas Longhorns have officially parted ways with head basketball coach Rodney Terry after 2½ seasons, citing disappointing performances and an early exit from the NCAA Tournament. In a swift move to revamp the program, Texas has appointed seasoned coach Sean Miller as Terry’s replacement.

Miller, who previously led successful programs at Xavier and Arizona, is set to take over the Longhorns with a reported contract worth approximately $5 million annually. The decision comes after Texas struggled to maintain consistency under Terry, failing to make a deep tournament run despite high expectations.

“We appreciate Coach Terry’s contributions to the program, but we felt it was time for a new direction,” said Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte. “Sean Miller brings a wealth of experience, a proven track record, and a vision that aligns with our championship aspirations.”

Miller, known for his defensive-minded coaching style and strong recruiting ability, is expected to bring a fresh approach to the Longhorns as they aim to return to national prominence. His tenure at Arizona saw multiple deep NCAA Tournament runs, and Texas fans are hopeful that he can replicate that success in Austin.

The Longhorns’ coaching change signals a new era for the program, with Miller set to take the reins ahead of the next NCAA season.
