Dubai, UAE – The National Football League (NFL) is exploring the possibility of hosting its first-ever regular-season game in the Middle East, with Dubai and Abu Dhabi emerging as top contenders for the landmark event.

The move comes as part of the NFL’s broader international expansion strategy, which has already seen successful games in London, Germany, Mexico, and, most recently, Brazil. With a growing fanbase in the Middle East, league officials believe the time is right to bring American football to a new market.

“We see a tremendous opportunity in the Middle East, not just for a one-off game but for long-term engagement,” said an NFL spokesperson. “The passion for sports in this region is undeniable, and we are committed to expanding our global footprint.”

The Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and Washington Commanders have already been granted marketing rights in the UAE, signaling the league’s strategic interest in the region. Additionally, Australia has been confirmed as a future international destination for NFL games, with a matchup scheduled for 2026.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has emphasized the importance of global growth, citing increasing television viewership and merchandise sales in international markets as key drivers behind the expansion efforts.

While discussions are still in the early stages, sources indicate that Dubai’s state-of-the-art facilities, including the iconic Coca-Cola Arena and Zayed Sports City in Abu Dhabi, are being considered as potential venues.

If finalized, the Middle East debut would mark a historic milestone for the NFL, further solidifying its position as a truly global sports league. Fans in the region eagerly await further announcements as the league continues to push the boundaries of American football’s worldwide reach.
