Barcelona stay hopeful about signing the €70 million-rated South American speedster despite facing challenges.

Barcelona’s chase for Liverpool winger Luis Diaz is picking up momentum, according to a report from SPORT, which highlights growing confidence within the Catalan club. The Blaugrana are increasingly convinced that the Colombian forward will eventually join them at Camp Nou.

The main reason for this optimism is Diaz himself. The 28-year-old has expressed a clear desire to play for Barcelona. His representatives have been in regular contact with Barça officials for several weeks, making his wish to move from the Premier League to La Liga widely known.

Barcelona sees the transfer as achievable, though the timing remains uncertain. The fee Liverpool demands will likely depend on when the deal happens. Ideally, Barça aims to secure Diaz before pre-season begins, but if talks drag out, they might have to wait until later in the summer window.

Despite Liverpool’s reluctance to sell, Barcelona senses an opening. The Reds are facing financial constraints, having already spent €40 million on Jeremie Frimpong and preparing for a major signing of German talent Florian Wirtz. Given these commitments, Liverpool might consider selling Diaz to balance their finances.

Barcelona, however, is unwilling to meet the reported €80 million price tag. With no release clause in Diaz’s contract, direct negotiations between clubs are necessary, and Barça hopes the player’s determination will help push the transfer through. They are aware of competing offers from Saudi clubs, but Diaz’s preference for Barcelona is expected to play a key role in the final decision.

With two years left on his contract, the situation remains delicate. If Diaz continues to push for the move, Liverpool may have to soften their stance and agree to more favorable terms for Barcelona.
