In the midst of swirling transfer speculation, France head coach Didier Deschamps has offered clarity on the future of two of AC Milan’s biggest stars—goalkeeper Mike Maignan and left-back Theo Hernandez. Speaking to reporters ahead of France’s preparations for Euro 2024, Deschamps responded candidly to suggestions that the duo may seek moves away from the San Siro this summer.

“They are fully focused on their national duties and remain committed to AC Milan. I have not seen or heard anything to suggest otherwise,” Deschamps affirmed, brushing aside rumours with a composed but firm tone.

AC Milan’s Dynamic Duo: Stability Amid Speculation

Both Maignan and Hernandez have been crucial figures in Milan’s recent resurgence. Maignan, widely regarded as one of the top goalkeepers in world football, has consistently delivered commanding performances since his arrival from Lille in 2021. His leadership and shot-stopping prowess have made him a pillar in both Milan’s backline and the French national team.

Theo Hernandez, on the other hand, has evolved into one of the most dangerous attacking full-backs in Europe. Known for his explosive pace, technical ability, and flair in the final third, Hernandez is also attracting attention from Europe’s elite clubs. However, Deschamps stressed that both players remain grounded.

“Transfer windows will always bring rumours, but these are professionals with strong characters. Milan is a top club—they know their value and their current environment suits them,” Deschamps added.

Focus on the Present: Euros Before Transfers

Deschamps also emphasised the importance of focus during international tournaments, suggesting that distractions like transfer talks can be detrimental to team unity and performance.

“We are here to compete and win. Discussions about futures can wait—right now, the priority is France,” he said.

Despite ongoing reports linking Maignan with clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich, and Hernandez with a possible move to the Premier League or La Liga, no official offers have been made, and AC Milan have not indicated a willingness to part ways with either player. The club remains determined to retain its core squad, especially as it eyes a stronger title push next season under a new managerial direction.

Milan’s Stance: Not for Sale

According to sources close to AC Milan, both Maignan and Hernandez are considered “non-transferable” unless an astronomical bid is presented. Milan are keen to build on the foundation they’ve laid in recent seasons, with both players viewed as central to that vision.

As the summer unfolds, fans can expect more noise around these names, but for now, Deschamps’ message is clear: Maignan and Theo Hernandez are not thinking about departures—they are thinking about winning.
